Rough Day

Today was a rough day. I was very tired which means I am going to bed early tonight. Mr. Harris seemed very hard on meet today trying to get me to stand up straight it just seemed like my legs weren’t working with me today. We stated out working on my balance and walking with one crutch. I was actually complimented on my work by a Rowan staff member. It feels good to be noticed by people for you’re efforts. Mr. Harris is rough on me yes, but you can tell it’s only because he wants me to be my best! He always telling me how good I’m doing and if he didn’t think so he wouldn’t say so. We also walked quite a bit today and you can tell I’m getting in better shape and that is an awesome feeling!

Stretching My Legs

As I said yesterday I am very happy and proud because I am walking taller, straighter, and much smoother. We are focusing on straightening my knees when I walk and I am doing great! I walked a little over 2 miles today! I feel very proud of myself. For the first time in my life I actually feel tall laughing...

Walking Taller

Day 3 and I am already seeing great improvement in my walking! I am walking straighter and taller I really am smiling from ear to ear :+) My legs feel very loose and my stride is much smoother and for the second day in a row I walked over a mile. The strides that I am making are huge for me and I am very proud of myself. This only means the better I get the better personal trainer I will be! Mr. Harris is one cool dude and very nice guy. Man he is tough on you! But I loved being pushed toward my goals. He is the right person for the job, just like my parents were the right people to raise me!

Wow

On my 2nd day of training I walked over a mile! Wow what a day right now we are strictly walking to strengthen my legs and improve my balance before moving to the second step of training. All this walking may take awhile, but whatever the next step is walking is always a great start to new beginnings

Orientation Day

Today was the 1st day of my training. I walked almost a mile that's huge for me because it's the first time I've done that in awhile. This isn't my first day of working out however; I have been working out for over 10 years. But being a personal trainer isn't just about working out, it’s about changing your lifestyle physically and mentally to prepare yourself the right way to help other people be successful! I am proud to say that today I took my first steps toward my future goals! I can already tell that Lee and I are going to be a great team. Oh yeah he also gave me more homework. I had to write down all the things I use my wheelchair for. So basically if it’s not on the list I am walking on my feet and I like walking a lot better anyway.

Introducing Myself & Looking Ahead

My name is Matt Rich I am 26 years old. I have Cerebral Palsy, it is a very mild case. I've always known I could be a great inspiration both able-bodied and handicapped individuals. Starting this Tuesday I will be looking ahead and taking the steps needed to attain a degree in Personal Training. I feel that God is calling me into this field to help as many people as I can. I am going to use this blog to personal track my progression and hopefully inspire some people as I write as well. Everyday that I train I will write a blog of my day. The fun starts Tuesday and I am excited!
